?min ?mi

We were on an island over the weekend. The island is Monhegan and it's only a mile long, but it has two good sized hills on it. I ran from our end of the island to the top of the other hill. There are TONS of trails on the island but they were all pretty muddy, a fact I found out the hard way with a big "squish" and a wet foot for the run home. I probably did about 3 miles, but I haven't got a good map of the island digitized to be sure (yet.)

54mi 6mi

Did the lake loop with some exploration plus a loop around the neighborhood. Would have been more exploration but the bugs in the woods were nasty. A lot of little pains came and went. It was humid and that seems to happen when it's humid. Saw a heron in a stream under a lot of trees - it was impressive to see the huge wingspan in such tight quarters.

27min 3.3mi

Quick pre work run to keep the training schedule on track. No pain, no tingle. A bit on the hot side.

61min 6.6mi

Wow. 82deg. Asphalt busy road trip to the bike shop with water backpack to get new baskets for road bike. Got all tingly at mile 5.5 and major tingle around mile 6 - and survival mode for the last 10 min or so. Good 20 min recovery until I was able to type this. Still drained but feeling LARGE for not stopping.

Stupid iTunes screwed all the music on my iPod again, so I was skipping songs the whole time (xMas tunes got in there... which you'd think would help, but it didn't)

All muscles and equipment performed to specifications... look out marathon, I've got your name.

4.4mi 41min

It's very tempting to adjust my training while I'm running, and the suprise is that I always want to do more than the plan. Was contemplating 6mi tonight when the schedule was 3. A little calf tightness post run, but otherwise very comfortable. Took this one slow as I added a mile.

28min 3.3mi

Did the neighborhood loop the easy way 3 times. Listened to a podcast (TWiW) and enjoyed it very much. I think until I start getting some new music on the iPod I'll be listening to podcasts. My commute to work is now 17min (used to be 5) so I listen to them on then too - so I'l be needing some more podcasts now that I have activities during which to listen to them more.

Saw another runner on this route for the first time ever - guy was going the other way and I'm glad cause he was MOVING and would have blown by me. I think I saw him while driving the other day and he had a tShirt that read "Shut up and Run" - which is kinda the opposite of this whole blog thing.

No pain today - I stretched the calf before+after but dunno if that helps, or if it's the shoes finally helping.

38min 4.3mi

Running my lake route at night sucks. The shoulders are very hard to see when cars are coming at you and I came close to twisting an ankle a couple times. Other than that it was a very good run - no pain - much gain. Kinda wish my watch had the "split" function.

19min 2.2mi

A 2am run in a lite rain. Came home completely pain free. Would have done more but I've got a long run this weekend and don't want to overtrain in the rain and cause pain that I'd have to explain, so I did refrain.

?min 3.3mi

3 loops around the block the "easy" way. Legs felt better AFTER the run than before it. Muscles must have been tight or something.

Bike - 10min

Wanted to run, but need the recovery/rest for the calf. So I took the road bike out for a quick 10min ride.

19min 2.2mi

Stupid Red Sox loosing to the Yankees, so I'm going for a run. Hit the first mile HARD - probably under 8min/mi time, and was feeling large on the 2nd mile... but I remembered yesterday's calf pain and didn't want to explore that envelope tonight. Finished the 2nd mile and still had no pain so decided to call it a good "easy day" in the schedule. Today was also my first day at my new job, which went very well.

33min 4.2mi

At the in-laws in MASS. Planned to run a loop, but couldn't find one of the roads. Did an out and back, and then found the originally planned loop and did it the other way. Left calf pain that I decided to run through - I'm sick of the calf pain/tightness. More often than not it's the only problem I'll have. I think I did like 4 miles, which is right in line with the marathon training. Have to figure out how to reduce the dual data entry on the marathon training worksheet and here. (Later measured at 4.2 miles)
